Too Much Hutch

Do we live in a circus?
Yes, we do.

I moved into my very French apartment a week and a half ago. My roommate Vanessa moved in on October 1st. A few days prior to Vanessa's move, the landlord's mother was residing here. She had to move to an assisted living facility due to her Alzheimer's.
We are very fortunate to have a well-stocked apartment, but Vanessa and I agreed that it was a bit too well-stocked. We undertook a massive cleaning and purging effort that took about 15 hours.

We stacked many of the possessions into a large pile right by the front entryway for the landlord to collect. While he collected, we mopped and moved furniture.

Previously, the apartment had been very cramped and visually busy. We scooted around things to get to our seats. Now, our apartment is less traditionally arranged, but we have SO MUCH SPACE.

To allow for this extra space, we maneuvered both hutches against one wall - this was quite a feat for two tiny gals! The apartment still feels as if there is a bit "too much hutch," but at least we won't be bumping up against the hutches so often.

We organized and dusted for seven hours today. Then we ate. Finally, the space feels like our own.

  1. Wow very European, looks pretty cool, more pictures please.

Is it actually radiator heat? If so that is fantastic, you can keep a coffee warm on it while you read, warm towels while you shower, warm PJs before bed.
